St. Genevieve

$25.00

St. Genevieve (422-512AD) was known for her piety, courage, and leadership. She is most famous for inspiring the people of Paris to pray and fast, which, according to tradition, helped divert Attila the Hun from attacking the city in 451 AD. She is often portrayed holding a lit candle depicting her late night walk to church, and also a candle, as the tradition goes, that was miraculously relit by the Lord when the devil tried to blow it out. St. Genevieve is the patron saint of Paris. Her feast day is January 3.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
