Our Lady of Guadalupe
On December 9th, 1531, the peasant farmer Juan Diego was drawn to the apparition of Our Lady by a sound that he later described as the beautiful sound of birds. After assuring him of who she was and giving him instructions, she tells him, “Go and put forth your best effort.” For those who know the whole account, Juan Diego does just that, with a humble but determined persistence in his obedience to the message Our Lady gave him. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of the Americas. Her feast day is December 12th.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
